$239.95 Tray systems are perfect for those that do not like to handle the worms or for families that produce more food scraps than the basic Vermicomposter can handle. Harvesting the Worm Chalet is clean and easy. When the worms have finished converting food scraps and bedding from one tray, add another tray on top and the worms will make their way up to the new food source. The lower tray will now consist of converted castings (worm poo) ready to be used in your plants and gardens.

* We have researched and tested a number of layered Vermicomposting systems and have found The Worm Chalet to be the best of the lot. This unit is perfect for apartment/condo balcony composting.
*Note: This is a regular composter - not meant to be used with worms. Vermicomposting (composting with worms) is a mesophilic (even temperature) process. Regular or backyard composting is a thermophilic (heating up) process. Temperatures in a backyard composter can reach up to 160 (F) degrees or more. If the worms have no place to escape to they may be cooked (not a pleasant prospect for the worms). Also, all the tumbling action would probably give the poor creatures a really bad headache.
